At Food&Chatter, you will meet new people and rediscover Cape Town through food at our novel dining events! From tastings with restaurant hosts, cooking in locals' homes, to picking your own produce at a farm, join us for adventures around the Mother City, Cape Town.

Meet the Food & Chatter Team
I love to explore Cape Town on foot: to taste, smell, feel, hear and see the Mother City from all angles
Lisa moved from Chicago (USA) to Cape Town in late 2010, narrowly missing the FIFA World Cup. She had never traveled to the African continent and was ready for a new adventure!
Born in Tainan, the gourmet capital of the tropical island of Taiwan, Lisa has fond memories of family gatherings over endless feasts. She believes food is the common language to unite people, and loves to make new friends over shared meals.
Lisa founded Food and Chatter in 2012 out of her dream to connect people through food. After all, no matter which city you choose to live in, it is the people that make a place truly memorable!
I love to ask locals what they had for lunch: to find Cape Town classics like the Steak, Egg, and Cheese Masala sandwich!
Ovi first came to Cape Town for a 6-month internship and fell in love with this beautiful city. After returning to Germany’s snowy winters, he jumped at the first opportunity to move back to Cape Town in 2008.
He is a passionate hobby cook and always looking to re-create and modify every dish he tastes! Ovi is a big subscriber to fusion food, and sometimes he just feels like whipping up one of his childhood favorites: a fusion of Romanian/German dishes.
Ovi joined the Food and Chatter team in 2012, because he was frustrated by sites like Meetup, Internations and Couchsurfing, where he never got to meet local Cape Townians… This lead to Food and Chatter’s vision: a platform for everyone to meet new people, whether you are a local or newcomer in Cape Town!
... associates food as a medium to enjoy life to the fullest!
Anna moved to Cape Town in 2008. Having stayed in lovely but very rainy Edinburgh for long enough, she felt the need to explore the much warmer country her partner was from. They both decided that Cape Town would be the best place to start exploring South Africa and stayed for good.
Having grown up in East Germany, Anna developed a keen interest to try out new dishes on any given occasion. She associates food as medium to enjoy life to the fullest and share this experience with friends and family.
The desire to meet new people in South Africa paired with her passion for food led to the inevitable and she came across Food and Chatter. She is now part of the team as one of the writers.
I love experimenting with food. I hardly ever follow a recipe, but conjure up a new dish every time using what the pantry has to offer.
Born and raised in Germany, Alexandra has travelled around the globe always on the lookout for another country to live in and settled in Cape Town in 2012. After having lived in multiple cities in four countries, this finally feels like home. Cape Town has everything one could ask for, from nature on your doorstep to a thriving cultural scene and a potpourri of culinary adventures.
Alexandra is a health-conscious vegetarian with a focus on organic and locally grown food. Her sweet tooth has led her to experimenting with vegan desert recipes. She loves shopping at the many organic food markets in and around Cape Town and meeting new people. For her, food is not a mean to survive, but an enjoyable experience, may it be alone or with friends and family.
Alexandra met Lisa and Ovi in 2012 and soon became a fan of Food & Chatter. In 2015, she proudly joined the team as a writer.
