Craving for a small eatery with heart that is vegetarian? We might just have the right place for you!
Nooka just opened up its doors right in the center of the CBD and we were invited to test out their amazing goodies.
Being a big fan of the Middle Eastern kitchen this played right into my favourite food range (I am not kidding, I have to have some every week and call my friends chickpeas!). Think homemade Humus, Lentil Falafel with Tahini, sweet potatoe chips, roasted peppers and eggplant on fresh bread. Simply yum!
Cape Town caters mostly for the meat lovers and even though there are plenty of restaurants out there that have some vegetarian dishes, not many go the extra mile and make it their credo. This is what I loved most about this beautiful little gem. The owners, Eliav and Sivan Vanunu, care about the food they make and are passionate about sharing their creations. I tried to get Eliav to tell me his secret how to make perfect hummus but all he admitted was to keep it as simple and as close to the original recipe as possible. Never go overboard with spices as it otherwise takes away the sourness of the chickpea, which ultimately results in the great taste. I am sure to give my own home made hummus another try!
They are located right next to City Varsity and have amazing opening hours. Nooka’s doors open at 8am and if you need to grab a small bite before you want to hit the clubs you can do that until midnight! So there is no stopping you to get some of their delicious food any time of the day.
