Tuning the Vine #INNERCITYWINEROUTE

Share:

Thuning the VineAlways thought that wine tastings are reserved for the wine lands? Tuning the vine has brought back the Inner city wine route and with that a chance to have a wine tasting right here in your beloved Cape Town. Our team was lucky enough to be invited again. We took the chance and walked (and eventually stumbled) our way into wine heaven.

If you have not been able to visit last year, you now get your chance on one of three occasions on 07th October, 11th November and 09th December 2015. Here is what you can expect:

You may pick from 13 awesome venues which you can explore by foot, Uber or even cycle. Trust me, it will be hard to see them all. Not that the timing won’t allow for it but you kind of want to stay a little bit and get to know each of the places you visit.

IN VINO VERITAS

It will be hard for you to keep a handle on all the wine, wine cocktails (definitely my favourite) and craft beers you will be tasting. Thankfully Tuning the Vine has got you covered. They created an app for you to remember and order your favourite and they deliver!

Whisper the secret password “Fairies” and you apparently get a discount on your first purchase. Yeah!

WINE CRASH COURSE AND CELLAR TALKS

You know nothing about wine but love to drink it? Why not educate yourself a little? Unfortunately we did not get to join any of the courses that take roughly 20 minute but this does not mean you can’t! The cellar talks are held at Dorrance Wine Cellar in Heritage Square and you will hear from Christophe Durand how he makes his lovely creations.

FOOD AND WINE PAIRING

Tjing Tjing Torii offers a unique food and wine pairing. Make sure to book this early and before you go, as these go quickly. A lot of the venues will have some extra food on the side and you will be able to taste some chocolate (@Gin Bar) and bread with some cheese (@Publik Wine Bar – we absolutely loved it!!!) to fill your tummy with something else than just fermented grape juice. A Food Truck will be available from November!

FOR THE LOVE OF MUSIC

Everywhere you go you will be able to hear some great tunes and with all the tastings you will soon find yourself nodding your head to the beat. We especially enjoyed the music at Youngblood Art and Culture Gallery. Seeing that this is one of the venues where you can collect your tickets you are bound to visit.

SOMMELIER GUIDED TASTING TOURS

Another little something you have to book early to not miss out! Small groups of 6-8 people will be able to join in on a 45 minute wine adventure. Interested? Go check it out!
